With enormous pride and delight, the sixth class boys and girls in Mr Burke's class presented a project at the ESB Science Blast in Ballsbridge (07 / 03 / 2019). The judges were effusive in their praise for the group and the quality of their approach. They admired their approach to inquiry and the quality of their presentation skills. Throughout the day, the boys and girls met with people who are involved in STEM learning and were delighted to share with them their ideas and enthusiasm. It was an incredible day and it has inspired the future scientists of Huntstown to keep on asking questions. Well done everyone.
The project looked at what combination of liquids made the most effective bubbles. The students used different types of substances such as tonic water, spring water, cola and shampoo. They mixed each with a solution of washing up liquid and then used bubble blowers to make bubbles. They created graphs to represent their data and were judicious about their use of fair testing.
